FAQ

Frequently Asked Question Private Detective Agency Section

1. Is my consultation confidential? Absolutely. Discretion is the cornerstone of our agency. Everything discussed during your initial consultation and throughout the investigation is strictly confidential, protected by our firm’s privacy protocols and professional ethics.

2. What information do I need to provide to start an investigation? The more “starting points” we have, the more efficient the investigation. Generally, names, known addresses, social media profiles, and recent photographs are helpful. During our intake, we will guide you through a specific checklist based on your case type.

3. Is the evidence you gather admissible in court? Yes. We operate strictly within state and federal laws. Whether it’s surveillance footage, background checks, or digital forensics, we maintain a rigorous chain of custody to ensure all evidence can be used in legal proceedings if necessary.

4. Can you guarantee a specific outcome? While we guarantee professional diligence and the use of all available resources, we cannot guarantee a specific “finding.” Private investigators are finders of fact; we provide the truth of a situation, whatever that may be.

1. Legal Guardrails: Knowing the Boundaries

In the investigative world, legality is the difference between a case winning in court and a case being dismissed. We operate with a strict “Integrity First” policy.

  • Can you wiretap a phone or intercept private digital messages? No. Wiretapping and unauthorized hacking are federal offenses. We use advanced Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) and legal surveillance techniques to gather information that is legally obtainable and therefore useful to you.
  • Will you trespass on private property to get photos? No. We conduct surveillance from public areas or “plain view” vantage points. This ensures that any photographic evidence we gather is admissible in court and does not violate privacy laws.
  • Can you obtain private financial records or “ping” a cell phone location? Without a court order or subpoena, these actions are restricted. However, we can perform comprehensive asset searches and location tracking via legal, database-driven, and physical surveillance methods.
  • Do you impersonate law enforcement? Strictly no. While we may use legal “pretexting” (disguised identity for information gathering) in certain jurisdictions, we never represent ourselves as police or government officials.

2. Logistics & Costs: Your Investment

Professional investigations require resources, time, and specialized equipment. We believe in total financial transparency from day one.

  • What is a “Retainer” and how does it work? A retainer is an initial deposit held in a dedicated account. As we work your case, we draw from this balance to cover hourly fees and expenses. Any unused portion of the retainer is fully refundable upon the conclusion of the investigation.
  • How do you charge for travel and equipment? Standard surveillance usually incurs a per-mile fee. For long-distance cases or those requiring specialized equipment (like unmanned cameras or GPS trackers), we provide a line-item estimate for your approval before deployment.
  • What happens if the investigation takes longer than expected? We provide regular “budget checkpoints.” If we reach 80% of your retainer, we pause and consult with you to decide whether to continue, pivot strategies, or conclude the search.

3. Evidence & Reporting: The Results

You aren’t just paying for our time; you are paying for a professional work product that can stand up to scrutiny.

  • What will I receive at the end of the investigation? You will receive a comprehensive, professional Investigative Report. This includes a chronological log of all actions taken, timestamped high-definition photographs, and stabilized video footage where applicable.
  • How is the evidence delivered? To maintain the highest level of security, we deliver reports via an encrypted digital portal or a password-protected physical drive. We do not send sensitive evidence via standard, unencrypted email.
  • Can you testify in court if my case goes to trial? Yes. Our investigators are trained to provide expert testimony. Because we maintain a strict Chain of Custody for all evidence, our findings are prepared specifically for use by legal counsel in a courtroom setting.
